Car mobile usability testing

Prototype user interfaces for in-car mobile usage were usability tested in this project.

• Savigny User Research (SUR) carried out this prototype usability testing in Germany in collaboration with a user experience specialist from Idean.
• Car driving was simulated in a teststudio. Keeping sufficient attention on driving while using the mobile phone was necessary. Thus the prototype UIs had to meet the challenge of limited user attention.
• The sessions were conducted in English-language so that the Idean specialist was able to moderate and take care of the simulation of the prototypes' behavior.
• Thus the picture in picture (PiP) video recordings could be reviewed and understood directly by the client.
• SUR produced a comprehensive synopsis of observations and corresponding recommendations for redesign.
